Challenges and opportunities for urban air mobility

How could urban air mobility services, such as drones, help cities address their mobility needs?? What is the current state of development for urban air mobility in Europe?

The session will discuss market development, policy and legislative aspects related to urban air mobility. The session will feature a contribution from the UAM Initiative - a multi-stakeholder initiative to accelerate the market uptake of urban air mobility services, increase public acceptance, and share innovative ideas – and the EU-funded project HARMONY, a EU-funded project exploring new mobility services, concepts and solutions to support the transition to a low-carbon new mobility era.

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) has designated the MOBiLus consortium as the winning Innovation Community on Urban Mobility on December 5th 2018. The consortium consists of 48 partners: 13 cities, 17 industry partners and 18 universities and research centres across Europe and beyond. UCL is one of the partners and MaaSLab happy that we will have the opportunity to work on more MaaS related projects!

MaaSLab's Melinda Matyas took part in the UAM Initiative Cities & Communities (UIC2) Forum during the Amsterdam Drone week. She shared MaaSLab's view on the importance of including all elements of the ecosystem in the discussions about drones and UAM. Co-creation labs and stakeholder workshops allow for increasing public and social acceptance.
